Arlington West
The first Sunday of November 2003, a
group of peace activists erected 340 wooden crosses on the beach
immediately west of Stearns Wharf, marking the deaths of U.S.
servicemen and women killed in Iraq. Stephen Sherrill originally came
up with the idea. “We weren’t appreciating the real impact of
their sacrifice,” said Sherrill. “They were just numbers, too easy for
all of us to breeze over.” Every Sunday morning, Sherrill and a group
of volunteers — organized through Veterans for Peace — place new
crosses in the sand by Stearns Wharf, dubbed Arlington West.
Education
for Peace in Iraq
The Education for Peace in Iraq
Center promotes freedom, security, and genuine democracy for the people
of Iraq. Founded in 1998 by American veterans and human rights
advocates. Winning the peace in Iraq requires a responsibly
engaged America, the support of the international community, and
cooperation between Americans and Iraqis. Genuine democracy requires a
commitment to the rule of law, an end to the violence, and political
change through the ballot box rather than through military force.

Thomas Paine, VCS advocates a series of common sense principles to

2. Supporting US service members, veterans and their families
3. Liberty & justice for all
