Veterans
for Common Sense seeks to inject the element of Common
Sense into debates over war and national security. In an age when the
majority
of public servants have never served in uniform, the perspective of war
veterans must play a key role in the public debate over national
security
issues in order to preserve the liberty veterans have fought and died
preserving.
Veterans for
Peace is an educational and humanitarian
organization dedicated to the abolishment of war. Founded in
1985, VFP
membership is comprised of veterans from all wars spanning from the
Spanish
Civil War of the 1930s to the current war in Iraq. These members are distributed
among 86 nationwide
chapters, and dozens of international affiliations. One of VFP’s major
goals is
to increase public awareness of the material, social and human costs of
war.
Vietnam
Veterans of America Foundation is an international humanitarian
organization that
addresses the causes, conduct and consequences of war through programs
of
advocacy and service for victims of conflict around the world. Founded
in 1980
by Vietnam veterans Bobby Muller and
John Terzano, VVAF has transformed the American experience of the
Vietnam War
into a mission of compassion and justice. Among their first initiatives
was an
effort to foster reconciliation, lift the U.S. trade
embargo and otherwise
normalize relations with Vietnam. It is
because of this
advocacy that VVAF began a unique friendship with the Vietnamese that
endures
today.
